Lois Nadine (Ross) Snyder, 92, of Walthill, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Walthill, with Father Michael Eckley officiating. There will be a prayer service on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill.
Lois was born on October 27, 1917 on a farm east of Winnebago, Nebraska to Elza G. and Gertrude (Baker) Ross. She graduated from Winnebago Public School in 1935, having attended 12 years of school.
Lois married John L. Snyder on November 27, 1935 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Winnebago, NE. John passed away on January 31, 1976. She worked for 27 years on the St. Augustine Indian Mission Farm and was employed for 18 years at the Food Shop in Winnebago. She moved to Walthill in October of 1979.
Lois is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Neill of Walthill, a son, John E. Snyder and his wife Robin of Rosalie, grandchildren David Snyder of Las Vegas, NV, Darwin Snyder of Winnebago, NE, Jan Neill-Hawk, Chris, Justin, and Brittnie Snyder all of Rosalie, NE. She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, sons Joe, Wendell (Butch) and Lawrence (Punch) Snyder, sisters Lila Hartwell, Trude Frazey and son-in-law Arlin Neill.
