Gladys Park, 95, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Due to the weather the funeral for Gladys has been rescheduled for Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Bill Kober will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield.  Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Siouxland and Salem Lutheran Church of Wakefield. Gladys was born on May 12, 1914 in Essex, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Emma (Sunquist) Fransen. At a young age, Gladys and her family moved to the Wakefield area, where in 1932 she graduated from Wakefield High School. On June 23, 1932, Gladys was united in marriage to Bernard “Jack” Park. Gladys was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Wakefield Community. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her cheerful and generous spirit. She was well known for all the quilts she made. She won ribbons ant the county fair for her baby quilts, and donated many quilts for charity raffles. Gladys enjoyed her time volunteering at the nursing home. She will be missed by all who knew her. Gladys is survived by her children: Donald and wife Shirley of Lebanon, Missouri, Joyce and husband Duane Thelen of Omaha, Nebraska, Etta and Don DeJager of LeMars, Iowa, and Marlene and husband Ted Klopp of Iowa City, Iowa, 14 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 20 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren, and a sister Florence Fleetwood of Omaha, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, brothers: Verner and Arnold “Pete”; and her sisters Blanche, Dorothy and Ruth.
