CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE VIDEO TRIBUTE.Gwen Louise Plummer, 56, Lincoln, passed away January 2, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, Nebraska with the Rev. Gretchen Ritola officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at St. Luke’s church from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Tekamah Cemetery in Tekamah, Nebraska. A memorial service will also be held at The Sheridan Lutheran Church, 6955 Old Cheney Road in Lincoln, NE on Friday, January 8, at 7:00 p.m.Gwen was born September 18, 1953 in Oakland, Nebraska, the daughter of Cecil and June (Stork) Plummer. She was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran in Tekamah and spent her early childhood in Tekamah. She moved to Emerson, NE in 1962 and graduated from Emerson-Hubbard High School in 1971. Gwen attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a Regent's scholar and earned a degree in Textiles, Clothing & Design in 1975. Upon graduation, she worked for Northwest Fabrics in Sioux City, IA, Beloit & Eau Claire, WI. She then moved to Lincoln and worked for JC Penney Co. Gwen later worked for the University Bookstore, overseeing the gift & Husker apparel department. In 1999, she began working for Duncan Aviation as a purchasing agent where she remained employed until her death. Gwen had life-long interests in sewing, making many dresses for weddings, baptisms & other special occasions for special people in her life. She loved jewelry and gem stones and was extremely knowledgeable about them. She was an avid fan of everything in which her nieces & nephews participated. Her journey through cancer was eased by all the correspondence, visits and care sent her way.She is survived by her mother, June Plummer of Emerson, brother Chuck (Danna) Plummer of Omaha, brother Russ Plummer of Emerson, sister Diane (Bob) Duden) of Lincoln; nieces & nephews: Stacie (Bryon) Jokumsen, Austin, Alyssa, & Logan of Omaha, Ryan Plummer of Omaha, Lindsey (Troy) Delancey, Chase & Shea of Lincoln, Brandon (Carrie) Plummer of Omaha, Zach & Rachael Duden of Lincoln; and a multitude of cousins, friends & co-workers. Gwen was preceded in death by her father, Cecil. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Emerson.
