CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE VIDEO TRIBUTE.Randy Curtis Novak, 30, of Pender, Nebraska, died on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 31, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, Nebraska. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. Interment will be in the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pender.Randy was born on May 20, 1979 in Pender, Nebraska, the son of Curtis and Beverly (Thomsen) Novak. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. He graduated from Pender High School in 1999. He moved to a group home in Yankton, SD, and worked and socialized at Ability Building Services.Randy gave two thumbs up to: video games, shooting hoops, snowmobiling and skiing, tubing, hangin from the boom of a Terra-Gator, bowling (and all Special Olympics), Fishing and hunting with dad, country music concerts, watching sports in his recliner, dancing the night away, flirting with the nurses, and holding the remote. For many years Randy felt “awesome awesome good”, and most recently he said “wonderful and Great”!Randy is survived by his mother, Beverly Novak of Pender, NE, grandmother Phyllis Thomsen of Pender, sister Amy and Jeff Cogswell and their children, Tyler, Kennedy, Keathen and Kate of Gretna, Nebraska, sister Heidi and Jarrett Thummel and their daughter Joselyn of Shawnee, KS. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and member of their families, as well as friends and teachers.Randy was preceded in death by his father, Curt Novak, grandparents, Elmer Thomsen, Lester and Gladys Novak, and cousins Jana and Kyle Bentjen.In Lieu of flowers, memorials are recommended in Randy’s name to Special Olympics or the Sturge-Weber Foundation.
