Janice C. Fuchser, 74, of Emerson, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson, NE, with Fr. Michael Malloy officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart church in Emerson with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Emerson.
Janice was born on July 1, 1935 in Emerson, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Virginia (Beargeon) Paulsen. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, graduating from Sacred Heart School in 1952. She married Ervin Fuchser in 1956 and the couple lived on a farm close to Emerson until retirement when they moved into town in 1991. Through the years Janice had worked for the Emerson Fertilizer Plant, Curtis Law Office and Schlickbernd Insurance. She was a past President of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, and a member of the Legion Auxiliary. She loved playing cards with her family and friends and belonged to a card club. Janice was an avid reader, loved to play Bingo, bowl, cross-stitch, put puzzles together and attend her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
Janice is survived by her husband Erv, and nine children: Al Fuchser of Emerson, NE; Mick and Deb Fuchser of Bennington, NE; Russ and Beth Fuchser of South Sioux City, NE; Keri and Darwin Mast of Cozad, NE; Randy and Carol Fuchser of Chicago, IL; Kenny and Lynn Fuchser of Fremont, NE; Dean and Kathy Fuchser of Columbus, NE; Cory and Sheri Fuchser of Hendersonville, TN; and Leah and Kyle Ahlers of Emerson, NE. She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and one great grandchild, three sisters, Paulina Krusemark, Madeline and John Sunderman, both of Emerson, NE, and Mayvon McQuistan of Pender, Ne, and two sisters-in-law, Sis and Sally Paulsen, both of Emerson, NE.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a brother-in-law.
