Rex Albert Anderson, 81, of Pender, Nebraska passed away on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, Nebraska, with the Rev. Philip Hale and Rev. David List officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE. Interment will be a later date.
Rex was born on February 21, 1929 to Ed and Marie (Hermelbracht) Anderson on a farm north of Bancroft. He was baptized at the Bancroft Lutheran Church on January 12, 1930. He was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rosalie on November 17, 1946. He attended country school and Bancroft High School. On March 21, 1945 he enlisted into the U. S. Army, and was honorably discharged on September 13, 1952 as a Sergeant.
Rex was united in marriage to Janet Schilling on August 19, 1954 at the Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage in Rosalie.
Rex worked for the town of Bancroft for 20 years. Upon retiring he and Janet worked at Gavins Points as camp hosts at Nebraska Tailwaters for six years.
Rex is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet, and five children: Dotty Furchert and her husband Mylon of Scribner, NE; Terry Anderson and his wife Emily of Blair, NE; Peggy Renz and her husband Cary of Bancroft, NE; Betty Lynaugh and her husband Jim of Kearney, NE; and Bobby Anderson and his wife Angel also of Bancroft. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, four sisters: Luella Petersen and her husband Merle; Helen Johnson and her husband Mel, Frances Anderson and Minnie Dirkschneider, three brothers: Odin Anderson; Ronnie Anderson and his wife Linda, and Paul Anderson and his wife MaryAnn
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Lyle, Hyle, Margie and Milton.
