Melvin E. Peterson, 90, of Rosalie, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Pender Care Centre in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Rosalie, with Pastor Steve Breazier officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE. Interment will be in the Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, NE.
Melvin was born on July 5, 1919, in Closter, NE, the son of Elmer and Hilda (Peterson) Peterson. He married Helen Crosby on August 12, 1943 in Dothan, AL. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he received three purple hearts. He farmed all of his life. Melvin belonged to the United Methodist Church in Rosalie, and the Lyons VFW. Helen passed away in 2003.
Melvin is survived by his children: Linda Peterson and her children Shane and Regina from Rosalie, NE; Robert (Stella) Peterson of Lincoln, Ne, and their children Ryan and Ashley; Raymond (Holliday) Peterson of Omaha, NE, and their children Kenneth, Savanah and Sierra; and Randy (Wendy) Peterson of Pender, Ne and their daughter Misty, a sister-in-law, Leona (Donald) May of Henderson, NV, and four great grandchildren.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen, and three brothers.
