Lois J. Wegner

Lois J. Wegner, 78, of Bancroft, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, NE with the Rev. Philip Hale officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 5 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Bancroft. Interment will be in the Bancroft Cemetery in Bancroft. Lois was born on September 4, 1931 in Kennard, Nebraska to Emil and Rose (Johnson) Rooth. She attended and graduated from Oakland High School in 1949. She married Luther Wegner on December 22, 1950 in Papillion, NE. After their marriage, the couple lived in Omaha for a year before moving to Bancroft where they lived the rest of their lives. Lois worked for local businesses, retiring from the Pender Care Centre. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She loved playing cards, bingo, fishing, and spending time with her friends and family, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother Lois is survived by four children: Debbie Foulk and her husband Lane of Lincoln, NE; Pam Garton and her husband Steve of Beatrice, NE; Mike and his wife Barb of Bancroft, NE; and Teresa Powley and her husband Paul of Pender, NE. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, sisters-in-law Louise Renander of Sioux City, Iowa, Ardyth Wegner of Fremont, NE, and Barbara Rooth of Union, SC. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Luke, an infant son and daughter, a brother, Charles, a grandson, Derek, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
