Elmer C. Lamp, 93, of Emerson, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Emerson. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Elmer was born in rural Emerson on February 20, 1917 to Chris and Clara Lamp. He attended rural grade school, District 34, also known as Peters School. He was confirmed at St. Luke Church on May 1, 1932. He attended High School, graduating in May 1935. Elmer worked with his parents until he was able to enter into farming. He married Vivian Anfinson on August 22, 1943. They then lived on the Steward farm north of Emerson for six years, then moved nearer to Emerson onto the Fred Schoening farm for 34 years, retiring to Emerson in 1983. Elmer and Vivian loved the farm life, with Elmer raising livestock, and planting as straight a row of corn as he could, and Vivian gardening and raising chickens, laying hens and Broilers, housekeeping and doing yard work. Elmer and Vivian attended St. Luke’s Church. Vivian sang in church choir and participated in Altar Guild, and belonged to various ELCA groups. Elmer served on Church Council, Church Treasurer, Church Financial Secretary, and President of Lutheran Brotherhood while it was still active. After retiring, from the farm, Elmer became St. Luke custodian with help from Vivian and also did outside yard work. He also served on Tri View Housing Board for 20 years. Preceding him in death were his wife of 47 ½ years. Vivian died on March 14, 1990, Elmer’s parents, Chris and Clara Lamp, daughter, Donna Jean (Lamp) Blatchford, brother Wilbur, niece, Lori Ann Temple, nephew Kenneth Lamp, and brother-in-law Vernon Anfinson, and special friend, Alice Heimann. Elmer is survived by son-in-law, W. Dean Blatchford and his wife Maren of Fargo, ND, three grandsons: Bruce Blatchford of West Fargo, ND; Brian Blatchford and his wife Stephanie also of West Fargo, and their children Gregory and wife Elizabeth, and Millissa Blatchford; and Brent Blatchford and his wife Carol of Fargo, ND, and their children Brady and Ashley, two sisters, Dorothy Anfinson of Emerson, NE, and Marilyn Temple and her husband Pete of Ponca, NE, and sister-in-law Clara Lamp of Emerson.
