Edna A. Zastrow, 104, of Emerson, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, September 03, 2010 at Oakland Heights Care Center in Oakland, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 5, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, with the Rev. Gretchen Ritola officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Emerson with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson.
Edna Anna “Grandma” Zastrow was born to Wilemea and William Kuhl on October 12, 1905 in Silver City, Iowa. She married Hugo Zastrow on October 22, 1930 at Dakota City, NE. To this union one daughter was born. They farmed in the Emerson-Hubbard area until 1970 when they moved into Emerson. She moved to Fremont in 1998 and resided in Stanton Tower for eight years. In 2007 she moved to the Oakland Heights Care Center. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson and was an active member of their Altar Guild for many years. Among her hobbies were gardening, crocheting and playing cards.
Edna is survived by her daughter Marlice Sebade of Fremont, Nebraska, grandchildren: Renae (Alan) Johnson of Oakland, NE; Kevin (Marilyn) Sebade of Lindsay, TX; and Todd (Jessica) Sebade of Columbus, NE, five great grandchildren: Aaron, Nathan and Natalie Johnson, Matthew and Lucas Sebade. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hugo, a son-in-law, Tom Sebade, two sisters, one an infant, and the other Olga Larson, and one brother, Ted Kuhl.
