Fred J. Tremayne, 80, of rural Walthill, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 06, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Walthill, with Pastor Steve Breazier officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill.
Fred was born on March 29, 1930, in Walthill, the son of Richard and Nellie (Christensen) Tremayne. He graduated from Walthill High School in 1947. Fred farmed with his dad after graduating and joined the U. S. Marine Corps in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He married Karlyne Burmeister on May 17, 1952 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Omaha. He farmed and fed cattle all his life in the Walthill area. Fred enjoyed farming, cattle sales, playing cards, farm sales and playing with his great grandsons. He was a member of the Lester Stewart Legion Post #89, the United Walthill Methodist Church and a charter member of the Walthill Memorial Rodeo Committee.
Fred is survived by his wife, Karlyne, son Dennis “Jake” Tremayne and his wife Sandy of Walthill, grandchildren: Josh Tremayne and his wife Sally of Walthill, and Jesse Tremayne of Lyons, NE, and two great grandsons, Ross and Reed Tremayne. His is also survived by brothers: Larry Tremayne of Omaha; and Don Tremayne and his wife Sharon of Walthill, brother-in-law Richard Sharp and his wife Carolyn of Benton, IL, as well as nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gene Ervin Tremayne, and a sister Darlene Sharp.
