Iola A. Geiger, 85, of Allen, died at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, NE on Friday, November 12 after a short illness. The funeral for Iola will be on Tuesday, November 16 at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Allen, with the Rev. Sarah Ruch officiating. The visitation will be on Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Bressler -Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield. Burial will be Eastview Cemetery in Allen. Iola was born Feb 19, 1925 in rural Dixon, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Lilje) Wolter. She was baptized March 22, 1925 and confirmed July 16, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Laurel, and graduated from Dixon High school in 1942. She married Jim Geiger on September 16, 1944 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Concord. The couple lived 51 years on a farm southwest of Waterbury before moving into Allen in March 2001. Jim died in December of 2001. Iola continued to live at home until moving into the Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel, Nebraska in May of 2010. Iola was a member of First Lutheran Church in Allen and of Legion auxiliary post 131; she was also an active member of LCW in her earlier years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and reading and most of all her family. Survivors include four sons, Larry of Allen, Lyle and his wife Patricia of Waynesboro, PA, David and his wife Iva of Allen, and Dennis and his wife Karen of Pittsford, NY; a daughter Diane and her husband Craig Schultz of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Marty Schultz and his wife Kari, Jeff Geiger and his wife Bretta, Carrie and her husband Doug Roberts, Tom Geiger, Krystina Geiger, Bryan Geiger and Mysti Geiger; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Luella Bose of Laurel, and Elinor Goodwin of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim; a son, Darryl; two sisters, Margaret and Deloris; two brothers William and Lloyd and one grandson, Brian Schultz.
