Alvena E. Wilson, 86 of Pender, Nebraska died on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. Memorial services will be Monday, January 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender; Pastor Steve Breazier will be officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Alvena was born was born November 25, 1931 to R.D. and Anna Hegwer in Pender. She grew up in the country outside of Thurston and eventually moved into Pender, then Emerson. She married Glenn “Bud” Wilson at the same time as Duane and Lois Simonsen in 1948. Alvena attended Wayne State College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in social work in 1988. She was 57 years old when she graduated. Alvena worked at Region 4 in Wayne, NE working with the handicapped. Alvena was a member of the United Church of Pender and a part of the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed attending horse shows across the country when Bud was a judge. Her son’s competed in many shows and they attended the National High School Rodeo with Bud and helped with the competition. Alvena loved writing poetry about people close to her. She is survived by her sons, Brad (Connie) Wilson of Lone Grove, OK, Gary (Amy) Wilson of Emerson, NE; sisters, Gerry (Art) Cline of Thurston, NE, LaVonne Nilges of Pender, NE, Phyllis Buchholz of Pender, NE; grandchildren, Britton (Karla) Wilson, Audra Wilson (fiancé, Bryan Lake), Emily (Adam) Meissner; great-grandchildren, Brody, Beau, and Taylee Wilson and Nova Fox Meissner. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn in 1982; daughter, Vicky Lynn Wilson; brother, Ed Hegwer; and brothers-in-law.
