Anna Mae Obermeyer, 83, of Wakefield, NE, died on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at a Continental Springs nursing home in South Sioux City, NE. The visitation for Anna will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield, NE. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor William Bertrand will be officiating. Burial will follow lunch at the Laurel Cemetery in Laurel, NE. Munderloh–Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield is in charge of the arrangements.
Anna was born on October 14, 1940, in Coleridge, NE, the daughter of Tage and Violet (Hansen) Bach. She was united in marriage to LaVerle Obermeyer on August 24, 1956, in Sioux City, IA. To this union, five sons were born, Rick, Jerry, Scott, Brian, and Steve. The couple made their home in Laurel for several years, before moving to Wakefield. Anna worked at Zenith in Sioux City, and later with Waldbaum’s in Wakefield. She enjoyed fishing, cribbage, bowling, and taking care of her garden and yard.
Anna is survived by her sons, Scott Obermeyer of Wakefield, NE, Brian (Kris) Obermeyer of Bennington, NE, Steve (Deb) Obermeyer of Pender, NE; grandchildren, David Obermeyer, Jessica Crawford Deanna Obermeyer, Josh Obermeyer, Jordan Halstead, Joe Peterson, Jed Peterson, Courtney Stottler, Blake Obermeyer, Kelsee Obermeyer, Theresa Obermeyer; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Chuck, (Logene) Bach of Thurston, NE; sister, Diane Clark of Bronson IA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVerle; sons, Ricky and Gerald Obermeyer; brother, Richard Bach; and sister Ethel Dais.
