Arlene M Henschke

December 14, 1933 — February 23, 2020

Arlene M. Henschke, 86, of Wakefield, NE died on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at her home in Wakefield.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield, NE; Pastor William Bertrand will be officiating.  The visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.  Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Arlene was born on December 14, 1933 near Thurston, NE, the daughter of Clarence and Libby (Fillipi) Kubik.  On September 25, 1938, Arlene was baptized at John Huss Presbyterian Church in Thurston, NE.  She attended and graduated from Thurston High School in 1951.  Following graduation, Arlene attended Wayne Normal School.  She taught country school for a brief time.  On November 7, 1952, she was united in marriage to Paul Henschke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Wakefield, NE.  To this union four children were born.  Arlene helped Paul on the farm and worked in several places over the years.  She worked at the Wakefield Hospital, was a CNA at the Wayne Nursing Home and worked at Hardees in Wayne.  Arlene was a member of the Farm Fam Club, Ladies Aid, Thurston Legion Auxiliary and the Wayne County Election Committee.  She enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO, having coffee with her friends and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

Arlene is survived by her sons, Terry (Jodene) Henschke of Wakefield, NE, Tom (Alyce) Henschke of Wakefield, NE, Tony (Shari) Henschke of Pender, NE; daughter, Teresa (Gaylen) Fischer of Allen, NE; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters, Elsie (Eldon) Kieborz of Loup City, NE, JoAnn (Roger) Paulsen of Emerson, NE, Marilyn (Ron) Paseka of Onawa, IA; brothers, LaVerne (Viola) Kubik of Pender, NE, Don Kubik of Emerson, NE and Loren Kubik of Thurston, NE; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; brothers, Melvin and Carroll Kubik; sisters, Darlene Kubik, Clara Cooper and Evelyn Hammer.
