Arlene Mae (Malmberg) Koski, 94, of Pender, NE died on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Heritage of Emerson in Emerson, NE. The visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at John Huss Presbyterian Church in Thurston, NE. The burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. Memorials are suggested to John Huss Presbyterian Church, Pender Community Hospital or Pender Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home.
Arlene was born on March 31, 1930, in Pender, NE to Ray and Esther (Lander) Malmberg. She attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1947. Arlene continued her education by attending college in Omaha and earned her associate’s degree in business. While living in Omaha, she met John William Koski. On September 16, 1951, Arlene married John at the Presbyterian Church in Pender. Together the couple had four boys. In 1955, the couple moved to the farm east of Thurston and made that their home. John passed away in February of 1986, and shortly after his passing Arlene moved to Pender.
Arlene worked as a bookkeeper and business administrator for the Thurston County Extension Office, the county clerk’s office. She was a member of the Eastern Star organization and John Huss Presbyterian Church. Arlene served her church as an Ordained Elder, Clerk of Session, Unity Parish Council, Unity Parish Treasurer, and served as an officer for the Presbyterian Women organization. Arlene loved her family and attended as many of their activities and functions as she was able.
Arlene is survived by her sons, Keith Koski of Pender, NE, Randy (Janet) Koski of Omaha, NE, Alan (Jeannie) Koski of Utica, NE, Glen (Lynne) Koski of Gering, NE; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Janice Stuckenschmidt of Lincoln, NE, Sharon Bremer of Omaha, NE, Carmen (Jeff) Hoffman of Green Bay, WI; and sister-in-law, Colleen Malmberg of Norfolk, NE.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Koski; brother, Dale Malmberg; brothers-in-law, Dale Stuckenschmidt, Robert Bremer; and daughter-in-law, Marcia Koski.
