Benjamin Henry Brehmer, 42, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his home in Sioux Falls, SD. The visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Pender Volunteer Fire Hall in Pender, NE. with a sharing of memories starting at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pender Community Center in Pender, NE. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.
Ben was born on December 19, 1981, in Pender, NE to Keith and Rita (Mueller) Brehmer. Ben was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pender. He attended and graduated from Pender Public School in 2000. After graduation, Ben continued his education by attending Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE, and earned a degree in welding and utility line. He returned to Pender and was a Lineman for the City of Pender and worked for American Broadband as a Service Technician. Ben’s main hobby was working, he worked for Smith Farm Service in Pender part-time since he was in high school and worked for Terry and Julie Albrecht Farms in Thurston. On April 4, 2009, Ben married Katie Hermelbracht at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Most recently, he worked for Pro Underground in Sioux Falls, SD.
Ben was an active member of the Pender Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and was a charter member of the Sons of American Legion in Pender. Ben enjoyed helping people and volunteering for his community. In his spare time, he liked to watch Jimmy Johnson and NASCAR.
Ben is survived by his wife, Katie Brehmer of Sioux Falls, SD; stepchildren, Kolton Lehmkuhl (fiancé Sarah) of Fort Worth, TX, Rylee Lehmkuhl of Sioux Falls, SD, and Zoey Lehmkuhl of Vermillion, SD; parents, Keith and Rita Brehmer of Pender; sister, Molly (Amp) Ferg of Pender; nieces and nephews, Collins, Crew and Colbie Ferg; mother-in-law, Judy Hermelbracht; many in-laws; aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; and friends that love him very much.
Ben is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harlan and Vera Mueller, Leroy and Marcella Brehmer; father-in-law, Harold Hermelbracht; brother-in-law, Ronnie Hermelbracht; and cousin, Tabitha Mueller.
