Betty Lou (Kummerfeld) Hermelbracht, 85, of Bancroft, NE, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Legacy Garden Living and Rehabilitation Center in Pender, NE. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft; Pastor Nathan Henschen will be officiating. The visitation will be Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. Betty was born August 24, 1933 to Ethel (Schinck) and Fred Kummerfeld. She married Elmer Lutjen on August 31, 1950 in South Sioux City, NE. They had 5 children Sally, Connie, Bob, Tom and Ritchie. Elmer passed away April 2, 1961. After Elmer passed away Betty moved from the farm to Pender, NE where she owned and operated the North Side Café. Betty married Myron (Fiddle) Hermelbracht on July 19, 1962 in Winslow, NE. They had two children, Michael and Penny. Myron passed away April 10, 1999. Betty had a love of cooking in which she shared with many people. Betty catered for the Legion Smokers, weddings and various other events. She cooked at the Branding Iron and the Country Pub for many years. Betty continued to share her love of cooking with her family and friends and to share the food she made and the food she canned. Betty is survived by her 7 children, Sally Jusevich, Connie Copple, Bob (Mary Lee) Lutjen, Tom Lutjen (Ann Grell), Ritchie Lutjen, Michael (Rhonda) Hermelbracht, Penny (Alen) Johnson; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchild; sister, Sandy Carter; brother, Mike Kummerfeld; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores (Marlin) Doht, Janet Lutjen, Judy (Ronnie) Zacharas, Freddie Bird, Florence (Giles) Hannon, Myra Larsen, Judy Hermelbracht and Dick (Marlene) Hermelbracht. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer and Myron; and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Anna.
