Betty Johnson, 88, of Emerson, NE passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at St. Luke's UnityPoint Hospital in Sioux City, IA. The visitation for Betty will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Rose Hill Cemetery of Emerson; Pastor Charlotte Eversoll will be officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Emerson is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty June (Andrews) Johnson was born on June 16, 1932 in Emerson, NE, the daughter of Kathryn (Peters) Andrews and Donald C. Andrews. Betty was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson. She attended Emerson Public School and graduated from Emerson High School in 1949.
On June 15, 1952, Betty was united in marriage with Robert V. Johnson at St. Luke Lutheran Church. They lived in Emerson all of the 63 years they were married. Three children were born to this union, Wendy, Kathy and Monty. Betty was a stay at home mom, but she spent a lot of time volunteering at the school, church and in the community. Betty was active in St. Luke Lutheran Church, serving in the WELCA. She enjoyed helping Bob with his softball job, spending time with her children and grandchildren, decorating for the holidays and taking family trips, mostly to fish in Minnesota.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Doug) Eriksen; son, Monty (Linda) Johnson; grandchildren, Lana Carse, Laura (Jeremy) Dalland, Brian (Lieh Anne) Eriksen, Robert (Jessica) Johnson, Nolan (Julia) Johnson and Erin Johnson; great grandchildren, Makiah Riley, Rhyker Dalland and Remy Leigh and Rhett Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Katie Andrews; father, Donald Andrews; husband, Robert V. Johnson; and daughter, Wendy (Johnson) Carse.
