Betty Marie Pointer

Betty Marie (Haynie) Pointer, 88, of Homer, NE, died on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Countryside Nursing in Madison, NE.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE.  Burial will be at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill.  Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty was born on January 27, 1935, in Mondamin, IA the daughter of A.H. “Buster” and Louise (Powell) Haynie.  On September 8, 1951, she was united in marriage to Richard Pointer in Walthill, NE.  To this union, three children were born.  The couple lived most of their married life in Winnebago, NE.  After Richard died in 1997, Betty moved to Homer.  In 2022, Betty entered the care center in Madison.

She is survived by her son, Bob Pointer of Homer, NE; daughter, Valerie (Rick) Hightree of Pilger, NE; sister, Lucile Johnson of Homer, NE; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Daisy Pointer of Emerson, NE.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Pointer, and a daughter, Sheryl Brown.
