Betty Jane (Rager) Richards, 87, of Bancroft, NE died on Friday, March 13, 2021 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10:30 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bancroft, NE. The visitation will be held on Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Rosehill Cemetery of Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Bancroft is in charge of the services. Betty Jane was born on April 21, 1933 on the family farm near Winnebago, Nebraska, the daughter of Frank and Ida Mae (Case) Rager. She attended school and graduated from Winnebago High School in 1950. Following graduation, she earned her teaching certificate from Wayne State College and taught at a rural country school until her marriage to Robert Richards. She later worked as a chef at the County Pub in Bancroft until retiring. She is survived by her sister, Janet Lutjen (Lavern Logeman) of Bancroft, NE; brother, Tom (Janet) Rager of Harshaw, WI; sister-in-law, Judy Rager; brother-in-law, Bill Magnuson; Goddaughter, Tina Rickett; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; Parents, Frank and Ida Mae; brothers, Robert (Joan) Rager and Frank Rager; sisters, Bessie Rager, Wanda Rager, Mary Magnuson and Emma (Ervin) Peters; brother-in-law, Kenneth Lutjen and Godchildren, Michael Rager and Tracey Rager.
