Beverly J. Foote-Rusk, 84, of Wakefield, NE, died on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Wakefield Evangelical Covenant Church. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wakefield Evangelical Covenant Church; Pastor Jill Craig will be officiating. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Munderloh–Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield is assisting with the services.
Bev was born on June 25, 1939, in Wakefield, NE, the daughter of Joseph and Hazel (Van Horn) Helgren. She attended and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1957. Bev was united in marriage to Dewayne A. Foote on October 6, 1957, at the Wakefield Evangelical Covenant Church. To this union four children were born; Kay, Vicki, Deb, and Lee. The couple lived a short time in Chicago while Dewayne was serving in the U.S. Army. They made their home on a farm south of Wayne, NE, where she was a farm wife while raising their children. They moved to Wakefield in 1969, where she ran a daycare for many years. Dewayne passed away on March 14, 1990. On February 23, 1991, Bev married David Rusk at the Christian Church in Wayne, NE. Together they made their home in Wakefield. She worked for several years at the Wakefield Health Care Center, and later managed the Korner Mart in Wakefield. Bev enjoyed sewing, needlework, reading, crossword puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family.
Bev is survived by her husband, Dave Rusk of Wakefield, NE; son Lee (Dee) Foote of Wakefield, NE, Bill (Kim) Rusk of Norfolk, NE, Jim (Sarah) Rusk of Omaha, NE; daughters, Vicki Foote of Wakefield, NE, Deb (Bob) Gustafson, of Wakefield, NE, Pam (Dwight) Vander Veen of Wakefield, NE; nineteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, with five more on the way .
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dewayne Foote; daughter, Kay Gatzemeyer; granddaughter, Rachel Foote; and brother, Dale Helgren
