Blanche Marie (Hamann) Johnson, 76, of Wayne, NE passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, NE after a critical illness. A family funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, with Pastor Teresa Bartlett officiating. The visitation will be on Monday, June 29, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Please respect all Covid-19 mandated restrictions. If you plan to attend the visitation, the family request individuals to bring and wear a mask. Marie Hamann was born on May 22, 1944 in Homer, NE to William Sr. and Blanche (Pycha) Hamann. She attended Winnebago High School and graduated in 1962. Following High School, she attended Wayne State College for 2 years and received her college certificated. On December 7, 1968, she married Roger Johnson at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, NE. To this union, two children were born. Roger, Marie, and their two children farmed for many years. Marie loved being a homemaker and thoroughly enjoy living on the farm. Marie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wayne. She worked at Bomgaars in Wayne for 17 years before retiring in 2018. She enjoyed watching Hallmark Channel movies, tending to her beautiful flowers, and sitting on her favorite place, her porch. She loved all her family member, and all animals, but her kids were her world. She always had a happy smile and kind word for everyone she met. Marie is survived by her son, Jason Johnson of Winnebago, NE; and his girlfriend Michelle Ternus of Neilgh, NE; daughter, Alissa (Travis) Byrd of Lockwood, MO; granddaughter, Tessa Byrd of Yankton, SD; brother, William Hamann, Jr. of Winnebago, NE; nieces, Dianne (Lewis) Echols of Brandon, MS, Brenda (Eric) Collins of Oakland, CA; 3 great nieces; 1 great nephew; and many cousins. Marie is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret (Herbert) Hansen.
