Candis R. Biggerstaff, 68, of Wakefield, Nebraska, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, NE. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday. The funeral service will be on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield; Fr. Mark Beran will be officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. 

Candis was born in Sioux City, IA on September 6, 1956, the daughter of George and Ada (Bolles) Via. She attended school at Central High School in Sioux City. She worked for several years at the cookie factory in Sioux City. She also tended bar and waitressed. She was blessed to raise three children, Heather, Jesse, and Amie. On December 27, 1996, Candis was united in marriage to Dennis Biggerstaff in Elk Point, SD. The couple worked and lived in Wakefield, where Candis ran an in-home daycare. She claimed this was the job she loved most. She enjoyed working with heavy machinery on construction sites, and for the past several years worked as a road maintainer for the Wakefield Township in Wakefield, NE. Due to her health she was forced to retire. She has been battling cancer for the past two years. Candis enjoyed camping, boating, and riding horses. 

She is survived by her husband Dennis Biggerstaff of Wakefield, NE; son, Jesse (Brenda) Duerksen of Salix, IA,; daughters, Amie Echols of Wakefield, Heather (Mike) Anderson of Wakefield, NE; grandchildren, Carson Duerksen, Chloe Duerksen, Kelsie Lyon (Mitch Otto), Luke Lyon, Noah Bayona Echols, Devin (Kaylie) Anderson, Timothy (Cailin) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Raelyn Webster, Brixtin and Aubree Anderson. She is also survived by her sisters Carol Tullis of Fremont, NE, and Connie Miller of Davenport, IA; brother David (Angie) Via of Sioux City, IA, and many extended family.

Candis was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ada, brother-in-law Gary Tullis, and Niece Sara Tullis.
