Carole I. Thomas, 77, of Winnebago, NE, passed away at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, NE, on Saturday, March 1, 2025. A celebration of Carole’s life will be held at the Ho-Chunk Center in Winnebago, NE on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. with a light meal provided after. Mr. John Blackhawk will officiate for the family. Burial will be on April 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Rave Cemetery near Winnebago, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.
Carole was born in Sioux City, IA of April 28, 1947, the daughter of Douglas and Ethel (Morgan) Wilcox. Following her graduation from Winnebago High School, Carole attended college. She was united in marriage to Theodore H. Thomas, Jr. on May 14, 1966. The couple made their home in Winnebago. she worked as a Nurses Aide in Lincoln, NE and in Sioux City, IA. For many years she worked at the Winnebago Head Start and provided Child Care for community members and her grandchildren. She helped her husband farm, and loved raising the indian corn, as the work brought the family all together. She loved to sew, craft, and cook, most of all she loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carole is survived by her daughters, Michelle Thomas of Winnebago, NE, Teresa (Joseph) Littlegeorge of Winnebago, NE, Deanna Thomas of Winnebago, NE, eighteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Haskins of Sioux City, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Theodore; son, Jeffery Thomas, Sr.; brothers, Percy and John Wilcox; son-in-laws, Dennis Stammer and Titus Horn.
