Carolyn M. Schmeckpeper

Carolyn Marie (Peters) Schmeckpeper, 80, of Pender, NE passed with her family by her side on May 31, 2019 in Sioux City, IA.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE; with Pastor Karen McNeill-Utecht officiating.  A visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.  Burial will be in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Pender.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. 

Carolyn was born February 7, 1939, in Waterloo, IA to Adolph and Ann Peters. She graduated from Central High School of Sioux City, IA in 1957. She then married Les Schmeckpeper in Pender, NE, on May 29, 1966. After receiving her nursing degree, she worked at the Pender Community Hospital for 42 years and part-time at the Pender Nursing Home as an LPN.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Robert (Sandy) Schmeckpeper of Sioux City, IA, Scott (Erica) Schmeckpeper of Pender, NE, Kurt (Shannon) Schmeckpeper of Crete, NE; 7 grandchildren, Alan (Elisha) Schmeckpeper, Sara (Justin) Sangwin, Brook (Chaz Webb) Schmeckpeper, Jared Schmeckpeper, Braden Schmeckpeper, Marisa Schmeckpeper and Ethan Schmeckpeper; 6 great-grandchildren and many extended family members. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Les; parents; sister, Betty Beyer; brother, Don Peters; and brothers and sisters-in-law.
