Carroll A. Powley, 92, of Pender, NE died on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center. Funeral services for Carroll will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the United Church of Pender at 10:30 a.m.; Pastor Steven Breazier will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Burial with military honors will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender.Carroll was born on February 1, 1926 in Pender, NE, the son of Gene and Matilda (Hilker) Powley. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1944, and served in the Pacific Theater. On February 22, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mary Taylor at the Methodist Church in Pender. To this union three sons were born, Kent, Paul and David. For several years he worked as a mason, and was the best block layer around. He later attended the police academy and worked for several years as a police officer in Pender. Carroll was a member of the United Church of Pender, the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, fishing, mowing and riding motorcycles. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and visiting with friends. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Powley of Pender; sons, Kent Powley, Paul (Teresa) Powley and David (Wendy) Powley; grandchildren, Sheena (Jarred) Whitsell, Kayla Powley, Jessica (Danny) Bentley, Paige Ellis and Emily Ellis. He is also survived by two great granddaughters, Ella Whitsell and Elizabeth Bentley and one to be announced. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a grandson Derek Powley.
