Charles Berg, 82, of Emerson, Nebraska passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at Heritage of Emerson in Emerson, Nebraska. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson; with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday June 26, 2017 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.Charles was born August 18, 1934 to Roy and Daisy (Reilly) Berg in Walthill, NE. He attended school in Walthill, Winnebago, Decatur and graduated from Emerson High School in Emerson, NE. He married Katherine Hansen, November 12, 1955. The couple farmed in the Hubbard and Emerson area till retirement. He also drove truck for Boyer Valley and worked at the rest area outside of Sioux City, IA. Charles loved to fish, camp and spend time with his two companion dogs Elvis and Priscilla. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Katherine of Emerson, NE; daughters, Debra (Robert) Bellis of Port Richey, FL, Sharon (Roger) Oetken of Emerson, NE; son, Duane (Angela) Berg of Emerson, NE; grandchildren, Randy Hassler, Brian (Trish) Hassler, Becki (Tom) Wiseman, Jen (Chad) Claussen, Kevin (Brittny) Oetken, D.J. Berg; great grandchildren, Reagan, Jaxson, Reid and Schyler Wiseman; brother, Donald (Mavis) Berg of Pender, NE, Donna (Neil) Wood of Denver, CO along with many nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carrol Berg; and infant brother, Joseph Berg.
