Charles E. Peters, 74, of Norfolk, NE, formerly of Wakefield, NE, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Faith Regional Medical Center in Norfolk, NE. The visitation for Charles will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne, NE. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, NE, following a luncheon at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the National Ataxia Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh–Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.
Charles was born in Laurel, NE on January 20, 1950, the son of Forrest and Darlene (Baker) Peters. He was raised on a farm near Hubbard, NE until his father passed away in 1959. The family then moved into town. Darlene married Gordon Helgren a few years later, and the family moved to a farm near Carrol, NE, later settling near Wakefield. Charles was born with an intellectual disability. He helped around the farm with chores and enjoyed raising cattle and chickens. He enjoyed teasing people and always made the best of a bad situation. For several years Charles worked at the Schroeder Allen Hatchery in Wayne, NE. He loved fishing and collecting hats and pens.
Charles is survived by his brother, Fredrick (Sharon) Peters of Littleton, CO; a niece, Rebecca Peters, and her son August Peters; nephew, Fredrick (Tonya) Shriner and their children, Dawson and Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Darlene, step-father Gordon Helgren, and a niece Toni Peters.
