Cheerie Ann Raasch, 69, of Bancroft, Nebraska passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at Pender Community Hospital in Pender. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bancroft; with Father Paul Ortmeier Celebrating Mass. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with a wake service starting at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Bancroft. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. Cheerie was born November 3, 1947 in West Point, NE to Louis and Madeline (Waite) Gatzemeyer. She was baptized on November 30, 1947 and confirmed on April 17, 1959. She attended Bancroft High School. On October 23, 1965, Cheerie married her high-school sweetheart, Edward R. Raasch in West Point, NE. Together the couple were blessed with ten children. Cheerie volunteered her time as a member of the Bancroft Library Board, St. Mary’s Altar Society and Holy Cross Parish Council. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, shopping, a hot cup of coffee and a good book, walking, playing cards (only her rules), working as a para at Lyons-Decatur, teaching CCD, being a Eucharistic minister, reader for mass, church greeter and occasional altar server. She was honored with the Spirit of Holy Cross Award. Cheerie also had a love for animals, even the strays had a place in her home. In her spare time she could be found at "Chicken night" with her cohorts in crime. Cheerie is survived by her husband, Edward Raasch; sons, David (Roxanne) Raasch, Michael (Lisa) Raasch; daughters, Lisa Raasch-Smith, Tina (Scott) Ronnfeldt, Candi (Christopher) Bonsall, Carri (John) Schuttler, Tabitha (Brad) Sheets, Tiffani (Greg) Jahde, CharLee (Adam) Weborg; sister, Bette Brehmer; brother, Tim (Mary) Gatzemeyer; 20 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cheerie is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Madeline Gatzemeyer; parents-in-laws, Harold and Marguerite Raasch; brothers, Bill Gatzemeyer, Tommy Gatzemeyer; and son, Ty Raasch.
