Cora M. Soenksen

Cora M. Soenksen, 95, of Bancroft, NE died on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender, Nebraska.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, NE, Pastor Nathan Henschen will be officiating.  The visitation will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft.  Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Memorials may directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE.

Cora was born September 5, 1923 on the family farm in Cuming County to Ferdinand and Emelia (Tietz) Leimer.   She was united in marriage to Mynhardt Soenksen on September 5, 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church near Bancroft and the couple had three children; Ron, Lyle and Flora.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the ladies aid. She loved gardening, tending to her flowers and spending time with her family. Cora was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether giving a ride or a friendly smile.

She is survived by her son, Lyle (Karen) Soenksen of West Point, NE; daughter Flora (Terry) Larson of Lusk, WY; daughter-in-law, Pat Soenksen of Pierce, NE; sisters, Luella Canarsky of Harrison, AK, Myrna Loy (Alan) Rush of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cora is preceded in death by her husband, Mynhardt; son, Ron Soenksen; parents; son-in-law, Ronnie Johnson; brothers, Reinhard, Ruben, Orville; and sisters, Olivia Haas, Irene Kuester, Loretta Wickert, Doloris Greve, Elvira Tidwell, and Elaine Schultz.
