Dale F Krueger

Dale Francis Krueger, 62, of Emerson, NE died on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at his home in Emerson.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson, NE.  Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Emerson.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.   

Dale was born on August 22, 1958 in Wakefield, NE, the son of Leroy and Patricia (Neill) Krueger, of Emerson, NE.  He grew up east of Emerson and attended Emerson-Hubbard Schools.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Dale grew up on the farm, farming and raising cattle for nearly 30 years.  He spent several years driving the school bus in Emerson.  He also worked for M. G. Walbaums in different capacities: as night security, hauling eggshells to farmers, and in the later years, grounds keeping.

Grand in stature and strength but meek and humble at heart, Dale enjoyed spending time outdoors and getting away to his camping spot near Yankton, SD. He loved a game of cards, mainly pinochle.  He liked antique cars and for several years drove his restored 1958 Dodge when he had the chance for a cruise.  Although Dale was no longer actively farming, he looked forward to helping his brothers during harvest, always anxious to get back in the field to run the combine and haul cattle.  He loved the land.  He made family his priority.  He was much loved by all his nieces and nephews and the many, many school kids riding his route. Dale was working part-time back at the bus barn as a dispatcher and enjoyed his daily chance to catch up with his coworkers.

Dale is survived by his step-children, John (Rachel) Curtis Krueger of Sioux City, IA and Andrea Gibson of Warrensburg, MO; 4 grandchildren; his mother, Patricia Krueger of Emerson; brothers, Randy (Becky) Krueger of Emerson, John (Mary) Krueger of Kensington, KS, Jeff (Becky) Krueger of Thurston; sisters, Susan (Mike) Sherry of Cottage Grove, MN, Karen Holm of Jackson, Debra (Donald) Thrailkill of Seward, NE; sister-in-law, Faye Krueger of Emerson, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dale is proceeded in death by his father, Leroy; older brother, Leon; younger brother, Patrick; brother-in-law, George Holm; grandparents, August and Frances (Starzl) Krueger, James and Nellie (McQueen) Neill.
