Dan Boeshart, 77, of South Sioux City, NE, formerly of Emerson, NE, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019, at MercyOne Hospital in Sioux City, IA. A graveside service with military honors will be 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE.
Dan was born November 29, 1941 in Wakefield, NE to John and Mildred (Jones) Boeshart. He attended and graduated from Allen High School. After high school, Dan began his education at Wayne State College. Dan enlisted in the United States Army in April of 1963. He returned from the military in October of 1963 and finished his Bachelors of Education degree at Wayne State College. In 1966, Dan started teaching history and social studies at Emerson Hubbard Public Schools and remained there until his retirement. After his retirement, he drove the school bus and was a substitute teacher. Dan then moved into Heritage of Emerson and in 2017 he moved to Regency Square in South Sioux City, NE. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, council member, and a member of the Emerson Legion, serving as the Post Chaplain for many years. He also served on the village board and was the mayor for some time.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Lindgren of Emerson, NE, Julee (Steve) of Sauer of Bellevue, NE, Christine (Scott) Horner of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Brandon Davio, Georgia and Dani Horner; and a great-granddaughter, Ariana Holland.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean Boeshart; and aunt, Erma Jones.
