David William Phipps, 44, of Omaha, NE passed away in May 2018 at his home. A celebration of Dave’s life will take place on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. Dave was born on February 23, 1974 to Donald and Mardell Phipps. He grew up in Wakefield, NE the youngest of four siblings. Dave graduated from Wakefield High School in 1992 went on to further his education at Wayne State College and Iowa State University. In mid-1990, Dave moved to Lincoln and became involved in politics and public service. He worked on several local and statewide campaigns before eventually serving in the State Treasurer’s office and then moving to Omaha where he served as the Douglas County Election Commissioner. Dave lived his faith in the kindness he showed to those around him. He was smart and creative. He knew about a lot of different subjects and had a great memory. Dave was funny and could easily laugh with others and at life. He loved the Cubs, science fiction literature, politics, going to movies and a great hamburger. Dave had a profound love for music he participated in the marching band throughout high school. While Dave was a private person, he made some very close friends over the years and he will be missed dearly. Survivors include two brothers, Douglas Sr. and Dale Phipps of Wakefield. Dave is also survived by nieces and nephews and many extended family members. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and sister Debra Phipps.
