Donald W. Baker

Donald W. Baker, 73, of Allen, NE passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE. .  Memorial services will be held at Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.  Memorials may be directed to the Orphan Grain Train for Nebraska Flood Relief.  Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE Donald was born September 6, 1945 to Wilbur and Lucille (Wittler) Baker. He graduated from Wakefield High School in 1963. After high school he entered into the U.S. Air Force where he was a chaplain’s assistant, and stationed for a time in the Philippines. He was recently recognized as a 50 year continuous member of the American Legion. Don was a lifetime farmer who also saw the importance of maintaining areas of natural habitat for wildlife on his land. He enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, photography, and tinkering on the farm. Donald is survived by his sister, Mardelle Hallstrom of Wayne, NE; nephews, Col. Scott (Veronica) Hallstrom of Havelock, NC, Jeff (Kristen) Hallstrom of Arlington, NE; niece, Karen (Todd) Campbell of San Antonio, TX; as well as cousins, grand nieces and nephews, neighbors, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law Verneil Hallstrom.
