Duane H. “Stubby” Stolze, 71, of Emerson, NE died on Friday, February 12, 2021 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, Ne; Pastor Charlotte Eversoll will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Emerson is in charge of the services. Stubby was born on October 17, 1949 in Pender, NE, the son of Fredrick and Flora Stolze. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. Stubby attended rural country school through most of his elementary years, graduating from Emerson – Hubbard High School in 1967. In 1991, he was united in marriage to Cindy Huggenberger. To this family a son, Luke Duane Stolze was born. He was so proud of his son, and always made sure people knew that. Stubby worked IBP/Tyson for over 40 years, retiring in 2017. Following his retirement, Stubby worked for the Nebraska Game and Parks as a caretaker for the Danish Alps Recreation Area in Hubbard, NE. He was active his entire life, working with the Emerson JC’s, and was presently the president of the Rose Hill Cemetery Board. Stubby had many hobbies; gardening, making and selling Jelly, collecting marbles, playing cards, hunting and was an avid Emerson – Hubbard sports fan. Stubby is survived by his son Luke Stolze of Emerson, NE; ex-wife, Cindi of Emerson, NE; brother, Jerry (Barb) of S. Sioux City, NE; sister, Carol Boggy of Fremont, NE; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Duane was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rose Marie Randall and Vera Miller; nephew, Greg Randall and good friend Denny Frey.
