Elaine Dolores Church

Elaine D. Church, 80, of Wakefield, NE, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at a Sioux City Hospital. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home at 803 Oak St. in Wakefield, NE. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Emerson, NE following a luncheon. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh–Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.

Elaine Dolores Church (Krumwiede) was born June 11, 1944, in Rural Newcastle, NE, the daughter of Harold and Dolores (Hoesing) Krumwiede. She was the youngest of five children. The family moved from Newcastle to a farm near Homer, NE.

Elaine attended elementary school at St. Michael’s Catholic School in South Sioux City, NE. She graduated high school from Mount Marty in Yankton, South Dakota in 1961. After graduation, she worked as a dental assistant in Sioux City, IA until she married Terry Church in 1968. In this union, they had two sons, John and James.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Church of Wakefield, NE; sons, John (Shellie) Church of Westfield, IN, and James Church of Alpine, WY; grandchildren, Taylor (Cameron) Grommersch of Nicollet, MN, Ashtyn (Kade) Wasinger of Mankato, MN, Sydney Church of Westfield, IN, Jordyn Church of Westfield, IN; great-granddaughters Larsyn, Maisyn and Haidyn; great-grandsons Krew and Kash; and a brother Gary (Marlene) Krumwiede of Blythe, CA.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Dolores; sisters, Shirley Lerchbaumer and Helen Wermers; and a brother Harold Krumwiede.
