Elaine Adelyn (Bokemper) Hansen, 89, of Wakefield, Nebraska passed away Friday, February 09, 2018 at Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield, NE; with Pastor William Bertrand officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Wakefield City Cemetery in Wakefield. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. Elaine was born December 24, 1928 in Wakefield, NE to Henry and Viola (Schneckloth) Bokemper. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield. She attended and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1947 and continued her education at Wayne State College. After graduating from college she began teaching kindergarten and coaching girls basketball in Soldier, IA. Elaine also taught kindergarten in Sloan, IA before moving back to teach kindergarten in Wakefield. On August 21, 1953 Elaine married Bob Hansen. Together the couple lived on a farm South of Wakefield and started farming together. As a housewife she enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. Elaine also spent a lot of time taking care of the hogs, milk cows and caring for chickens. Their chickens laid enough eggs that they provided Wayne State College with eggs for several years. Elaine later helped start the EVEN DOZEN CLUB, a home extension club and the farm fans club. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Ladies Aid, L.L.L. and later at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Elaine is survived by her husband, Bob; sons, Dale (Sue) Hansen and Rex (Jean) Hansen all of Wakefield, NE; daughters, Gloria (Rayme) Dowling of Allen,NE, Trudy (Jerry) Roberts of Powell Butte, OR, Kaye (Jim) Schweigert of Omaha, NE; sister, Anita Dietz of Callumus, NY; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; half sister, Irene.
