Eleanor Marie (Schopke) Hingst, 90, of Papillion, NE, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at Hillcrest Cottages in Papillion. Funeral services will be Monday, June 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson; Pastor Gretchen Ritola will be officiating. The visitation will be Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson, NE. Eleanor was born January 25, 1927 in Emerson to Otto and Mary (Jager) Schopke. Otto passed away before Eleanor was born. In 1933, Mary married William Steinman who helped raise Eleanor and her sister. She attended and graduated from Emerson High School in 1944. On February 18, 1954, Eleanor was united in marriage to Harvey Hingst in Emerson, NE. Together the couple farmed in the Emerson area for over 44 years. Eleanor was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was the church organist for 50 years. After Harvey passed away Eleanor moved to Omaha to be closer to her son. She joined Divine Shepard Lutheran Church and was a part of the Mission Belles choir. Eleanor is survived by her son, Warren and Sandra Hingst of Bellevue, NE; sister, Norma Biede of The Dalles, OR; brothers, Gene (Mary) Steinman of Emerson, NE, Vern (Wilma) Steinman of Norfolk, NE, Don (Elaine) Steinman of Emerson, NE; grandchildren, Karl (Erin) Hingst of Glendale, AZ, and Kristen and Erik Hingst of Bellevue, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey in 1998, parents Otto and Mary and step-father, William Steinman.
