Erv was born on March 29, 1932, in Emerson, NE, the son of George and Marie (Swygart) Fuchser. He attended Emerson High School and graduated in 1949, most recently he celebrated his 75th reunion in June 2024. Following high school, he was drafted in November of 1952 and served in the Army until October of 1954 during the Korean War, where stationed in Nuremberg, Germany. After returning from the Army, he married Janice Paulsen on September 3, 1956. They made their home on a farm close to Emerson. Erv farmed with his brother Roy and nephew Ron until 1991 and then worked for Blue Jet Manufacturing from 1991 - 2000 when he said it was time to retire. Even while retired, he drove a handicap van for Mid-State bussing from 2001 - 2010, which he enjoyed doing.

Erv was a proud member of the American Legion Post for 70 years. Over the many years, he helped with many dances at the Legion Hall, dinners and putting up flags at the cemetery for Memorial Day.

Erv was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his kids' and grandkids' many sporting events over the years. He was known to rattle off random sports scores or unique sports facts about high school games 20 years prior, a Husker football score or even a golf match. He started golfing when he was 60 years old and never looked back, sometimes golfing 54 holes a day. His last summer of golfing was in 2022 at age 90. Christmas gatherings always involved a poker game with anyone willing to take on Erv. You always knew dad/grandpa won by the look on everyone's faces as they left the table. Erv never gloated but walked away with a smirk on his face. Horseshoes, bowling, playing pitch & pinochle were also some of the things he loved to do with friends and family. His competitiveness and humor were a part of every game he played. He said there wasn't anything worth watching on TV unless it was a sporting event and stopping at a Dairy Queen was necessary no matter where you were traveling to.

Erv is survived by his nine children, Al (Rita) Fuchser of Emerson, NE, Mick (Deb) Fuchser of Bennington, NE, Russ (Beth) Fuchser of Gilbert, AZ, Keri (Darwin) Mast of Callaway, NE, Randy (Carol) Fuchser of Columbus, NE, Kenny (Lynn) Fuchser of Fremont, NE, Dean (Kathy) Fuchser of Columbus, NE, Cory (Sheri) Fuchser of Hendersonville, TN, Leah (Kyle) Ahlers of Wayne, NE; 22 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren, and 3 more on the way; sister-in-law, Rose Paulsen; and Juan (foreign exchange student).

Erv was preceded in death by his wife Janice; parents; sisters, Betty Ensminger, Irene VanLent; and brother, Roy Fuchser.
