Ervin D. Peters

August 17, 1935 — November 11, 2020

Ervin “Pete” Dewayne Peters, 85, of Bancroft, NE passed away on November 11, 2020 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE.  A visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE.  Burial with military honors will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson. 

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all state guidelines will be in effect and we ask for everyone in attendance to wear a mask.

Ervin was born on August 17, 1935, to John and Hattie (Lieber) Peters in Emerson, NE.  In high school, he was active in football, basketball and track, his senior year they only lost one game. Ervin graduated from Emerson High School in 1954.  After graduation he enlisted into the Marine Corps.  Ervin was a lifelong truck driver in the Omaha area.  Even after his retirement he continued to deliver flowers for the local florist.  Ervin’s hobbies included bowling, watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Husker football, gambling and playing scratch tickets.  Ervin loved working in his yard and maintaining flower beds.  He enjoyed going to the Bancroft Senior Center and playing cards, and baking cakes for everyone at the center.  Ervin’s pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he loved attending their sporting events and traveling to visit them.   

Ervin is survived by his sons, Kevin Mudd of Ft. Calhoun, NE, Scott (Chris) Peters of Omaha, NE, Kelly (Beth) Peters of Omaha, NE; daughter, Tammy Clayton (Mike Lee) of Omaha, NE; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Elaine (Dan) Gatzemeyer of Hubbard, NE; sisters-in-law, Maxine Peters of Emerson, NE, Janet Lutjen of Bancroft, NE, Betty Richards of Pender, NE; brothers-in-law, Bill Magnuson of Bancroft, NE Tom (Janet) Rager of WI, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Ervin in preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma; brother, LeRoy Peters; sisters, Leona Johnson, and Marion Ellis.
