Evelyn L. Johnson, 88, of Wakefield, NE died on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Patty Meyer will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Evelyn was born on November 14, 1928 in Wayne, NE, the daughter of Arthur and Anna Mathilda (Granquist) Odegaard. She attended Wayne County District #34 school. On January 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Floyd Johnson in Wayne, NE. To this union five children were born; Rae, Donna, Jan, Val and Cari. The couple made their home near Wakefield where they farmed until moving into Wakefield. Evelyn was a member of the ESA and Wayne County Election Board. She enjoyed canning, tending her garden, crocheting and quilting. Most of all she enjoyed painting and dancing. Floyd died in 1998. She continued to live at home before moving to the Oaks Retirement Center in Wayne, NE and later the Wakefield Health Care Center. Evelyn is survived by her five children; Rae Brown of Wayne, NE and special friend Don Heineman, Donna (Dick) Smith of Pender, NE, Jan (Tom) Anderson of Wynot, NE, Val (Lisa) Johnson of Pender, NE and Cari (Don) Lemley of Tea, SD. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, great granddaughter Hannah Rose Anderson and a sister, Maxine Olson.
