Gail (Schmeckpeper) Harrison, 85, of Pender, NE, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022, at the Norfolk Veterans Home, in Norfolk, NE. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Beemer American Legion Hall in Beemer. Private family inurnment will be in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Gail was born on March 1, 1936, in rural Thurston County to Ed W. and Viola (Heinemann) Schmeckpeper. She was confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Gail attended and graduated from Pender Public School in 1954. Gail grew out of modest rural Nebraska to educate herself beyond high school and went on to travel to many points of the world. On June 20, 1954, Gail married G.W. “Bill” Harrison in Pender. Gail was a five-time cancer survivor that fought the fight and lived the life. Gail enjoyed knitting, crocheting and many other crafts. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and WELCA. She was a lifelong nurse and most recently a Pediatric L.P.N. at Children's Hospital in Omaha. Gail is survived by her husband, Bill Harrison of Norfolk, NE; son, Daryl (Jan) Harrison of Thurston; daughter, Sheree Harrison of Omaha, NE, Sheila Swanberg of Denver, CO; three grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren; sisters, Lorna Wingett of Pender, and Bev Fritz of Sioux City, IA. Gail is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; two sisters; and a grandson, Travis Harrison.
