George Milo Vraspir, 87, of Emerson, NE passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. The visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Emerson, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Charlotte Eversoll officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson. George was born on April 4, 1935, in Thurston, NE to Joseph and Mary (Jasa) Vraspir. He attended Thurston High School and graduated in 1952. Immediately following graduation George enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Essex during the Korean War. Upon his return from the Navy, he attended Barber School in Le Mars, IA. He worked in a barber shop in Fremont, NE for four years before moving to Emerson to start farming. On February 8, 1959, George married Judith Longe at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. To this union, the couple had twin daughters and a son. George was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, American Legion, and the VFW. He enjoyed spending time golfing, fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes, and flying his Cessna airplane. George loved his family and cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren. George is survived by his daughters, LeAnne Vraspir of Emerson, DeAnne (Ron) Fendrick of Emerson; brother, Donnie Vraspir of Emerson; granddaughters, Samantha Vraspir of Lincoln; Annie Vraspir of Emerson; and four great-grandchildren. George is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith Vraspir; infant son, Jamie; brothers, Lumar Vraspir, Ed Vraspir, Robert Vraspir, Willard Vraspir, Mike Vraspir, Richard Vraspir; and sister, Patty Ostrand.
