Goldia L. Schmedding, 101, of Omaha, formerly of Pender, NE, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in Omaha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Pender; Father Gerald Leise will be officiating. The visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023, at the church. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender is in charge of the arrangements. Goldia was born on April 24, 1921, on the family farm near Walthill, NE, the daughter of Frank and Cecile (Thompson) Burcham. After graduating from Emerson High School, Goldia was united in marriage to Emmett Schmedding on February 5, 1940. To this union four children were born, Carole, Charlotte, Larry, and Connie. The couple made their home on a farm near Walthill, until moving into Pender in 2002. She was a longtime active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Winnebago. Besides helping on the farm, Goldia enjoyed tending to her flowers, cooking, baking, collecting antiques, Barbie Dolls, and bears. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and playing a competitive game of dice with her family. Goldia is survived by her son, Larry Schmedding of Walthill, NE; daughters, Carole Tipton of Omaha, Ne, Charlotte Bohlke of Sioux City, IA, Connie (Michael) Caniglia of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren, and eighteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emmett in 2003; granddaughters, Autumn Schmedding and Carrie Tipton; son-in-law, Gary Bohlke; daughter-in-law, Jere Schmedding; brothers, Earl and Elmer; sisters, Violet, La Verne, Hildred, and Bonnie.
