Harold J. Rink, 90, of Pender, NE, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Pender Community Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender; Pastor Randall Herman will be officiating. The visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Burial with military honors will be at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, Nebraska. Harold was born December 26, 1927 to Herman and Anna (Schluter) Rink. He was the youngest of six children and grew up on a farm east of Pender. Harold graduated from Pender High School in 1946. Harold joined the Air Force in 1950 and became and aircraft mechanic. While in Wichita Falls, TX, he married Marilyn Anderson from Bancroft on February 24, 1951. He was then transferred to Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV during the Korean Conflict. In 1955 they returned to farm east of Pender and was involved with farming and manufacturing his whole life. He started Rink Enterprises and HR Mfg. Co. which invented many items for agricultural use. His son Randy came back to help with the farm in 1978. Harold loved his family, church, and the community of Pender. He was thrilled to be able to see the new Community Center open as he and Marilyn are a couple of the founding donors. It was a special day for Harold to see the Center in use. He was always happy to give and set an example for others to follow. Harold also enjoyed cards, fishing, golf, restoring old tractors and cars, but most of all, desserts. Harold is survived by his wife, Marilyn Rink of Pender; son, Randy (Callie) Rink of Pender; daughters, Connie (Chuck) Clifford of Lincoln and Jeanne (Steve) Hansen of Pender, six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Esther Sage of Ogden, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edna Maas, Martha Vang Christensen, and Helen Christensen, and brother, Richard Rink.
