Henry "Hank" Sands

Henry “Hank” W. Sands, 53, of Thurston, NE, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 near Schuyler, Ne as the result of an automobile accident. Funeral services will be Friday, March 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE; Pastor Randall Herman will be officiating. The visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Pender. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.  Hank was born January 25, 1965 to Harold and Dorothy (Berner) Sands in Chillicothe, MO. He graduated from Pender High School.  Hank lived in Thurston, NE, in the home he was raised in.   He was a long time Truck driver for Alber’s Feed Lot near Wisner, NE. Hank loved spending time on the road trucking. He also enjoyed reading, riding his Harley, and mud running. Hank was also a member of the River Rats Association. He is survived by his father and step mother, Harold and Sandra Sands of Thurston, NE; brother, Howard Sands; step brother, Craig (Lynne) Swanson, Brian (Brenda) Swanson, two nephews, four nieces, and many cherished family and friends. Hank is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; and his grandparents.
