Irene L Venner

Irene Lucille Venner, 97, of Fremont, Nebraska formerly of Bancroft, died on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Nye Pointe in Fremont. A funeral service for Irene will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Bancroft. Pastor Charity Potter will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Bancroft Senior Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. Irene was born on January 31, 1925, in Bancroft, the daughter of William and Grace (Peterson) Sorensen. Following her graduation from Bancroft High School in 1943, Irene was united in marriage to Fritz Venner on April 22, 1953, in South Sioux City. The couple made their home in Bancroft where Irene worked alongside Fritz at Holmquist Grain & Lumber as a bookkeeper for 40 years until her retirement. Together they enjoyed playing cards with friends, taking country drives, and attending grandchildren's activities, as well as traveling around the U.S. and special trips to Hawaii and Jamaica. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, and baking. She will be remembered by her family for her delicious cinnamon rolls. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church Ladies Aid and the Bancroft Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing cards and chimes. Irene is survived by a son, John (Jackie) Venner of Lincoln; daughters, Susan (Jeff) Beckman, and Jean (Steve) Beumler of Elkhorn; grandchildren, Jamie (Mike) Bolinger, Eric Venner, Jenna (Braden) Thieszen, Brady (Denae) Beckman, Kara (Jordon) Foster, Jase Gehring, Lauren Gehring, Andrew Vala (Carrie); great-grandchildren, Cadance Bolinger, Micah and Kensley Thieszen, Brooks Beckman, Joel, Reid, and Briar Foster. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Lillian Venner and several nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace Sorensen; husband, Fritz; an infant grandchild; sisters, Doris Orris and Wilma Basset; brother Glen Sorensen; brothers-in-law, William Orris, Hans Venner, Ernest Venner, Walter Venner, Charles Bassett; sisters-in-law, Patricia Sorensen and Bernice Venner.
