Janis Kay (Hall) Swanson, 79, of Pender, Nebraska passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 30, 2021. The visitation will be on Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender. The funeral will be on Monday, October 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. The burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.
Janis was born on December 30, 1941, to Kennard and Irma (Wollschlager) Hall in Norfolk, NE. She was baptized and confirmed in Hoskins, NE. After graduation, Janis attended Wayne State College and received her teaching certificate. On August 19, 1962, Janis married Harold Swanson in Hoskins, NE.
Janis enjoyed spending time gardening and taking care of her flowers. She also spent time volunteering at Main Street Thriftique, attending church regularly and playing cards. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed every minute she had with them.
Janis is survived by her sons, Timothy (Karen) Swanson of Thurston, NE, Jeffrey (Liesa) Swanson of Omaha, NE; daughter, Marcie Swanson of Omaha, NE; sisters, Charlene Gunter of Norfolk, NE, Judith Buss of Norfolk, NE; four grandchildren, Sarah (Brian) Bode, Kevin Swanson, Taylor (Matt) Brady, and Brooke Swanson; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Janis is preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold Swanson; sister, Margaret Kiepke.
