John H. Wriedt

John Henry Wriedt, 76, of Wayne, NE (formerly of Allen, NE), died on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, NE. A short Celebration of Life service will start at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE. A reception will follow in the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home Community Room. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE. 

John was born on April 28, 1948, in Wakefield, NE to Derwood and Ellen (Weber) Wriedt. He attended and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1966. After graduation, he attended a trade school in Omaha, NE to become a mechanic. On October 17, 1969, John married Jeannine Davis. Together the couple had four children. 

John had a very diverse working career. He helped several farmers and the Co-op driving trucks and helping in the fields. John was best known for his gunsmithing. He owned and operated John’s Trading Post south of Allen, where he worked selling, buying and trading guns and gun parts. He attended many gun and trade shows where he met several life-long friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and trapping around Northeast Nebraska. John loved living on the farm where he could enjoy the outdoors, his horses, animals, and pets. 

John is survived by his daughter, Emmalee (Isaias) Ramirez; sons Gene (Sheree) Wriedt, John (Candace) Wriedt, and Martin Wriedt; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, with a 14th on the way; one sister; one brother; and his dog, Dozer. 

John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeannine Wriedt; and grandson, Joseph “Yo Yo” Ramirez.
